Yooka-Laylee is a charming and fascinating game and with more polish, this game could have been something special. Unfortunately, Yooka-Laylee isn’t a fully polished game and it does have its fair share of issues but overall it’s an enjoyable game. The graphics in Yooka-Laylee are great and the art style is wonderful. Yooka- Laylee is a burst of sunshine and it’s very hard to hate this game. If you enjoyed classic 3D platformers and collectibles then, you’ll probably enjoy this game. The music in Yooka-Laylee is quite good and most of the background tracks are pretty good. The character voices are hilarious but I must say they can become downright annoying after a while. When you play this game for many hours you’ll understand what I mean.
In Yooka-Laylee you explore 5 different worlds. I won’t mention them but each world is huge and there is a lot to explore in each world. You can also expand the world by using Pagies. Pagies are the collectibles in this game. You’ll collect many Pagies on your adventure. You can get new Pagies by doing side quests. Some of them can be a drag while some can be fun. You’re also able to collect quills which can be used to access new moves and abilities. Yooka can also use his tongue to use many different moves. Just like Kirby
The worlds are well crafted in my opinion but they do have some flaws. It can be very hard to locate many things in the world and the worlds can be very confusing. I also felt the worlds were too big and they would have been much better if they were smaller in my opinion. But this is the least of Yooka Laylee’s problems. For some, a huge world is an excellent thing. For others, a smaller world is better.
Yooka Laylee is definitely a fun game. Hunting for Pagies can be fun and defeating bosses can be very rewarding. Expanding the world can be satisfying. Meeting new characters can be pleasing. Despite their annoying voices, Yooka Laylee has an amusing, delightful cast of characters that will put a smile on anyone’s face. The quizzes can be tedious but getting an answer right can be very rewarding.
Yooka Laylee has some issues. For example, the FPS can be all over the place at times. The controls aren’t the best either. The most frustrating thing about this game is the camera. The camera can be very awkward at times.
Yooka Laylee is overall a good game. And if you’re a fan of 3D classic platformers then you’ll most certainly enjoy this game. With more polish Yooka Laylee could have been something special but for now, it’s a game that will attract Banjo – Kazooie and classic 3D platformer fans.
Overall Yooka – Laylee is a good game and can be very fun. But with more polishing this game could have been something special.
