Recore is an extremely disappointing game. The concept was amazing, but the actual game is very poor. The game definitely has old school elements. The core mechanic is also quite impressive. And the game has a nice mixture of platforming and combat. That being said, the music isn’t impressive and the graphics are terrible. Graphics aren’t everything but they could have made the game look a bit better. Textures are awful and the character models are cheap. I didn’t like the art style in this game or the environment. Both the art style and the environment are very bland. This game also has many technical issues which really makes the game less enjoyable.
The game is filled with bugs and the loading times are unbearable. The game also cannot maintain a stable framerate. Not to mention the combat in this game is extremely repetitive and the story is awfully written. To be honest, this game felt rushed. Very rushed. The first trailer was very interesting and this game actually had a lot of potential, but the actual product is nothing more than a disappointment. Just like Mighty No. 9 Recore had bright ideas, but it failed to use them. Recore is like a jigsaw missing all of its pieces.
The game is fun for a while, but it quickly becomes stale and repetitive and the horrendous bugs start to kick in after a couple of hours of gameplay. The game has a lot of “fetch” quests which can become a chore after a while. And the difficulty suddenly spikes near the end of the game. Recore is like a cookie crumb. The concept was the cookie and the actual game is the crumb. Enemies are also very cheap in this game.
Recore is an unpleasant game. If you’re looking for a platformer for the Xbox One I don’t recommend you get this game. Maybe when the price drops. Yes, even $40 is too much for this terrible game. If you’re looking for a platformer check out Rare Replay.
ReCore is an awful game. The game had bright ideas but it failed to use them. The game also has many technical problems. Not recommended to anyone.
